Greenville County Library System IT – How Do They Do So Much?

Upstate Women in Technology presents, “Greenville County Library System – How Do They Do So Much?” on Thursday, April 26th at City Range Restaurant in Greenville.

The Greenville County Library System (GCLS) employs a variety of digital technologies and products to deliver services to our area. Various technologies such as servers, 600+ PC workstations, website (built in Drupal), integrated library system software suite, RFID tags, self-service checkout kiosks, and automated materials handling systems (i.e., machines that check in and sort library materials that are returned by customers) have been implemented. GCLS also provides a variety of in-person and online services and resources that support professional development in business and IT.

Our Lunch & Learn starts networking at 11:30; lunch and presentation runs from 12:00 – 1:00. Please register at for $20 or pay $25 at the door. Location is City Range in Greenville on Haywood Rd.

Brian Morrison is the Discovery Services Manager at the Greenville County Library System and has worked in various leadership roles in public libraries for over 12 years. Brian earned his BA in English from Clemson University and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina. In addition to helping people acquire information technology skills needed to be successful in the modern workplace, he is passionate about fostering new opportunities for individual learning and growth through connection with libraries and other community resources.
